The Grandest Golf Competition Of All Time
Golf is one of the most intense competitions that everyone look forward to. This year, we bring one of the grandest golf competitions of all time – The 2018 Masters.
This competition is divided in parts and the first one is for the competing players. This part gives them guidelines and helps them assess their taking part in the competition. The next part focuses on game preparations such as the game rules, training and putting up of gears. The third part is the nerve-racking part where the contenders ease their pressure for the competition.
Golf is a game where the golfers face a tough challenge of finding the right gear that could let them score. In golf, there is no standard area of playing which makes it different from all the other sports. The design of each golf course differs from the other and the space is not the same as well. However, each golf course must consist of 9 or 18 holes. Yet there are rules and regulations set for each game.
In every game, the number of strokes each golfer makes is very important. Although, each golfer has his own strokes in playing. In golf, each player has to defeat his opponent in a match play scoring system.
Originated in 12th century Scotland, this game was just a pastime to shepherds who compete with each other in kicking stones into rabbit holes. This goal is still used in golfing these days and the only difference is that golfers use clubs instead of just kicking the ball.
As times change, more and more types of golfing is made. Below are some of the types of golf competitions:
Stroke play or the medal play
This type of golfing is the most common one as it is used in most tournaments. In medal play, each of the golfers are to complete scoring 18 holes with the least number of strokes.
Match plays is where two teams of golfers compete in scoring the most holes from each other. This type is usually played in golf clubs and players in a match play follows a strict set of rules and regulations.
Scramble is where the player hits the balls in the hole and it will be decided which shot he made was the best. Then the other players copy the same strokes until the game ends. This type is considered to be the easiest one and this is why it is mostly used by golf enthusiasts.
In this competition, each hole contains a prize called a ‘skin’ and each of the players need to score each skin first. The prize is called the ‘skin’ because it is a bag made of skin which contains cash prize.
This competition also known as the ‘last man standing’ is also very popular because of its exciting mechanics; the players in this game are first required to provide a number of strokes which they are only allowed to use within the game and during the actual game, they are only allowed to use the number of strokes they provided.
There are many more types of golf competition and in the 2018 Masters Review, these competitions will be played by golfing enthusiasts such as Iain Sharpe and other famous ones from around the world.
